On the afternoon of January 2, 2026, we arrived at Shiraito Falls.

The waterfall was the reason we had come, but the first thing that caught our attention after getting out of the car was Mount Fuji rising beyond the parking area.

The view was open all the way down toward the foothills, which made the mountain feel especially large. We had already seen Mount Fuji from several places during the trip, but a clear full view like this still made us stop for a while.

A short walk through the trees

After spending a little time looking at Mount Fuji, we started walking toward Shiraito Falls.

The route was straightforward. After about five to ten minutes at an easy pace, the sound of water grew louder and the waterfall began to appear below the path.

Closer to the bottom, the view opened up. There is one stronger drop, but much of the cliff is lined with thinner streams of water running down side by side.

According to the City of Fujinomiya, Shiraito Falls is about 20 meters high and extends for more than 150 meters, with hundreds of streams emerging across the cliff. The waterfall felt much broader from below than it had from the upper path.

A private parking lot just beyond the official one

Arriving by car, the official tourist parking area is the first obvious option.

We continued just past its entrance and found a separate private parking lot roughly 20 meters farther along. On the day we visited, its posted rate was lower than the official parking fee.

It was separate from the official tourist parking area. The price advantage was clear on the day we visited, but privately operated lots can change their rates or availability, so the signs on site are the best reference.

Mount Fuji again on the way out

After seeing the waterfall and walking back up, Mount Fuji was still hard to ignore.

As the afternoon moved on, the light became warmer and the mountain looked different from when we first arrived.

Shiraito Falls itself was worth the stop, but what made the visit work especially well was how easily the waterfall, a short walk, and the Mount Fuji views fit into the same afternoon.

It was an easy place to pause without needing to turn it into a long stop.
