I visited Udongdang in Sokcho at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026. It can have a wait, but I was seated straight away that day.

We ordered the sweet shrimp bukkake udon and the octopus bukkake udon. Each bowl was KRW 13,300, or KRW 26,600 for both. More than anything, I remembered the thick, springy texture of the house-made noodles.

Thick noodles, two kinds of bukkake

The sweet shrimp bowl paired the shrimp’s sweetness with cold udon, while the octopus bowl added a different bite. In both, the elasticity of the noodles held the dish together, so the udon itself did not disappear behind the toppings.

At the time of my visit, curry rice, extra noodles, and white rice could be refilled. That arrangement may change, so it is worth checking the restaurant’s current notice before visiting.
